Why We’re Obsessed With The Cardigan Right Now
This nifty little knitted number has become an integral part of the trans-seasonal wardrobe.
The humble cardigan, a once much-maligned item, often associated with librarians and teachers, is having something of a fashion moment. And while it’s rarely been considered chic, in recent seasons, this nifty little knitted number has become an integral part of the trans-seasonal wardrobe. Because it doesn’t matter what side of the globe you’re on, it has easy-wearing appeal – whether shrugged onto the shoulders with a pretty summer dress to combat an early evening chill, underneath a leather jacket for that extra layer of warmth, or even teamed with a black dress and belt for this perfect date night outfit. Who knew a cardi could actually be sexy?

Other ways to avoid looking like Mrs Doubtfire? Channel Hailey Bieber and wear yours embellished and over a crop top, combine your Chanel cardigan with high-waisted jeans like Pernille Teisbaek, or add lots of layered necklaces and some lace, like Olivia Palermo. Alternatively, opt for a pale lemon two-piece, à la Elle Ferguson, turn that two-piece into a three-piece like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, or add an extra layer over a denim jacket with a chunky cream knit like Katie Holmes. Who, while we’re on the subject, can be traced back to almost starting this cardigan revival thanks to that Khaite cashmere bra and barely-buttoned cardigan she wore a couple of years ago.
